Jennifer Hughes
Jennifer L. Hughes
Author

I am a lawyer living in San Diego, California.  That is my day job, anyway (being a lawyer, not living in San Diego).  In the word "lawyer," the “a” makes an “ah”—i.e., “lah-yer, or “oi”—i.e., “loi-yer”—sound, not an “i” sound—i.e. “li-yer” or "liar," unbeknownst to some.  If I have an objective with these books (aside from amusing myself), it is to make language and reading cool again (acceptable, not chilly).  Wouldn't it be off the hook if speaking proper English were sick?

Daniel Hughes
Daniel L. Hughes
Illustrator

Daniel has been drawing since the age of three... perpetually. Some people think this is amazing, and it is—amazingly exhausting. Daniel hopes you enjoy the drawings in these books. If you don't, remember they are his sister Jennifer's ideas.  If you do enjoy them, you don't need to remember that.  Daniel finds it funny to write about himself in the third-person.  It is, however, much easier to brag about oneself that way (e.g., "Daniel is a great artist" sounds much less self-glorifying than "I am a great artist.").  His sister may or may not have written that last bit, as Daniel would almost certainly never be so bold as to allege such a fact (even in the third person), although it is true.
In all seriousness (only for a minute), Daniel won an award from the New York Society of Illustrators in 2007 for one of his paintings: Brunhilde.

Shizue Harrison
Shizue Harrison
Primary Colorist

Even though I've graduated from crayons to digital tablets, my passion for illustration and color has not changed since age four. (My mother has certainly been pleased with the abating episodes of crayon bits embedded in the carpet!)  A native of San Diego, I received my B.S. in Media Arts & Animation from The Art Institute of California-San Diego. If my tutelage isn’t enough of a mouthful, my name Shizue (She-zoo-eh) can be just as troublesome, so most know me as “Izzy.”  Occasionally, at my discretion, I also answer to “Hey, you!”.
